With the upcoming superhero movies that Marvel has in store, it’s really a whole new ball game, thanks to The Avengers. After The Avengers came out and made three gazillion dollars, many of the upcoming Marvel films, including Thor: The Dark World, and Guardians of the Galaxy, are being looked at as offshoots of that incredible superhero team-up.
It has already done wonders Thor: The Dark World. Even though it doesn’t come out in the States until November 8, it’s already going like gangbusters overseas. In fact, The Wrap tells us that it has broken an overseas record, making $109.4 million in 36 foreign markets.
This is great news for Marvel, because American studios are more reliant on foreign box office than ever. With movies costing so much money these days, you have to make as much money as you can in every possible market just to break even, let alone make a profit.
While the reviews for Thor: The Dark World have been middling to fair, we’re pretty certain it will make a ton of money domestically as well. Fans will want to see how this installment can work its way into the next Avengers movie, and as we’ve seen since Iron Man, you’ll want to stay until the very end to see what’s coming up next in the Marvel universe, or in this case, we should say Galaxy.
