Thor may not be the most popular Marvel character, but as part of the Avengers ensemble he should do very well when his next movie, Thor: The Dark World, is unleashed on November 8. Now the reviews are in, and the verdict is…
So far, the consensus is The Dark World is fun, not the greatest comic movie ever made, but a decent diversion. Variety has called it “briskly amusing, elaborately inconsequential 3D entertainment…a buoyant if derivative ride.”
The Hollywood Reporter wasn’t nuts about it, saying the movie didn’t have “enough fun, except when Loki’s onscreen…Although director Alan Taylor manages to get things going properly for the final battle in London, the long stretches before that are a drag, like filler episodes of Game of Thrones…”
Yet similar to Variety’s review, The Wrap called The Dark World “a stirring, if not mighty, return for the Thunder God. Filmmakers haven’t put a lot of new ideas between Christ Hemsworth and his hammer, but there are enough thrills and laughs to keep it aloft.”
The end credits, as to be expected, has a teaser trailer at the end, actually two of them this time, and one of them has Benico Del Toro playing the Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy.
