Nvidia has officially unveiled its new GeForce GTX Titan video card, which the company claims is powered by the fastest GPU on the planet.
According to Nvidia reps, the $1,000 graphics card has the DNA of the Titan supercomputer inside.
“GeForce GTX TITAN is a beast of a GPU – and the only one in the world powerful enough to play any game at any resolution at any time,” claimed Nvidia exec Scott Herkelman.
“And yet, all of this immense power is housed in a sleek, sexy design, so gamers can also build beautifully-designed PC gaming machines about the size of a gaming console, yet magnitudes more powerful and always upgradeable.”
According to Herkelman, the GTX Titan supports Nvidia 4-way SLI technology, meaning you can put several of these powerful video cards inside of a single computer. A single Titan video card boasts 7 billion transistors, 2668 GPU cores, all while delivering 4.5 Tflop of single precision and 1.3 Tflop of double precision processing power.
The GPU also supports Nvidia’s new GPU Boost 2.0 technology, automatically boosting graphics performance. As expected, the card supports unlocked voltage and advanced controls for enthusiasts interested in customizing and overclocking.
As you can imagine, this high-end video card is incredibly expensive, with the card hitting streets on February 25 with pricing starting at $999. A number of Nvidia computer building partners are building gaming rigs using the GPU, including Origin. Indeed, Origin will be offering a Cryogenic Liquid Cooling Solution and professional overclocking on computers equipped with the Titan video card on the official launch date.
