Mele is a company that designs Android-powered devices for streaming media, such as the A1000 Android/Ubuntu-powered set-top box which can be modded to run multiple operating systems.
Recently, Mele confirmed that two of its flagship Android-powered set-top boxes were upgraded, including the A1000G and the A2000G.
Both received additional RAM, which may not sound like a huge overhaul, but remember, additional RAM is a necessity if you want to run complicated apps and load multiple operating systems.
Both the A1000G and the A2000G now have 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. The older versions were equipped with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of integrated storage. Currently, the processor remains the same – an Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 chip.
Connectivity options on both set-top boxes remain unchange and includes VGA, AV outputs, HDMI out, Ethernet port, dual port USB host hub and an optical audio output. The boxes also feature integrated WiFi and ship with wireless remote control.
The A1000G can be snapped up online for around $100 as can the A2000G. From what I can tell, the only real difference between the two units appears to be the design of the chassis.
