The first episode of the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn series has gone live.
Forward Unto Dawn tells the story of heroism and sacrifice in the Halo universe, taking fans back to the beginning of the human and Covenant war, and leading into the events of Halo 4.
Set against the backdrop of a United Nations Space Command (UNSC) military academy, Forward Unto Dawn follows a group of cadets who are training to be the next generation of soldiers in the UNSC’s ongoing war with insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets.
Among these cadets, Thomas Lasky struggles with his doubts about the war, and with the burden of expectations he may not be able to carry. As Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. Inspired by the Master Chief, he must decide what it means to be a hero.
The Forward Unto Dawn story unfolds weekly through a series of five episodes, setting the stage for the long-awaited worldwide launch of “Halo 4” on Nov. 6.
Halo is currently a multi-billion dollar science fiction video game franchise (originally created by Bungie) managed by 343 Industries and owned by Microsoft Studios. The property has obviously expanded since the early days of Combat Evolved, and now includes Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars (RTS), Halo Reach, Combat Evolved Anniversary (HD) and Halo 4.
There are also multiple bestselling novels and graphic novels which have sold quite well (the Halo Graphic Novel shipped more than 100,000 copies), with a number of them appearing on Publisher Weekly’s bestseller charts.
Tor’s first three novels sold more than one million copies by April 2000, while Ghosts of Onyx, Contact Harvest, The Cole Protocol and the first volume of Cryptum made the well-respected New York Times bestseller lists.
