Update 12:45PM EST: Despite an earlier report that Skyrim Hearthfire is headed to other platforms besides the Xbox 360, Bethesda is apparently still not ready to commit to the PS3 and PC for the DLC.
“We haven’t announced Hearthfire for any other platforms yet,” Bethesda VP Pete Hines told TheBitBag.
The next installment in the series of DLC is called Hearthfire, and it allows players to buy their own land and build a home from the ground up, “from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, and more,” Bethesda explains.
The company further details the new offering, saying, “Choose your land, customize your house, guard it from unwanted visitors, and turn your house into a home by adopting children.”
Hearthfire rolled out earlier this month for around $5 on the Xbox 360. It is hardly surprising that the PS3 version is almost an afterthought, especially since Bethesda still hasn’t launched Dawnguard, the previous DLC, on Sony’s console.
However, the company has previously said that Dawnguard delays were completely unrelated to Hearthfire. Bethesda said it is committed to providing content to the PS3. It is possible that Hearthfire could be made available without incident, despite the rampant Dawnguard delays.
In a rather huffy Twitter post, Bethesda wrote last month, “We are working on multiple projects … The entire team doesn’t work on one thing at a time.”
Skyrim, an epic and wildly anticipated new entry in the Elder Scrolls series, was recognized last year by taking away the top prize – Game of the Year – at the annual Video Game Awards.
