Apple has rolled out its new iTunes app for both the Mac and PC.
The latest version of the music player – due in October as a free download – features a completely redesigned player, seamless integration with iCloud and a new user interface (UI).
“With iCloud integration, your music, movie and TV purchases made on any of your iOS devices or computers is conveniently displayed in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, available anytime you want them,” explained Apple exec Eddy Cue.
”The redesigned iTunes Store, App Store and iBookstore have been rethought to make buying your favorite content on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC simpler than ever.”
According to Cue, the revamped iTunes boasts a full-window interface that’s simpler and cleaner, along with a new library view. An expandable album view allows users to see track listings for an individual album, while continuing to browse the music library.
Meanwhile, the new search feature seeks entries across the entire iTunes library, including music, movies and TV shows. The upgraded version of iTunes also features a re-imagined MiniPlayer that makes it easier to control music with a small tool bar.
With iCloud, all iTunes purchases are in the cloud and can be accessed from multiple devices, including an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC or Apple TV. Plus, the new iTunes features seamless integration with iCloud, which automatically puts all purchases into a library on a Mac or PC, regardless of which device was used to make the purchase.
The new iTunes app is slated to go live in October.
