Electronic Arts has removed references to a Playstation Vita version of Medal of Honor: Warfighter on its online store.
Origin, the publisher’s digital distribution platform, had grouped in Sony’s handheld console with platforms like the PS3 and Xbox 360 in its listing for the upcoming first-person shooter.
Because a Vita version of Medal of Honor had never been officially announced, this understandably started to create waves among the gamer community.
However, if you check out the Origin platform now, you will not see this reference anymore.
Computerandvideogames.com says it heard from an Electronic Arts spokesperson that the listing was “a mistake.”
The Playstation Vita hasn’t exactly had the explosion to stardom that Sony might have hoped for, but it is still attracting very strong third-party support.
At E3 last month, major game franchises including Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty were announced for the portable system. However, the Vita was notably not a major talking point for Sony, despite being years newer than the PS3.
Medal of Honor launched on October 23. If a Vita version was going to be available, there would be no reason to still keep it under wraps at this time.
