Acer has just revealed its latest Android tablet.
The company’s newest product is called the Iconia Tab A700, and it really doesn’t do a whole lot to blow the competition out of the water.
Like many of the Iconia Tab entries before it, this is just another incremental upgrade from Acer as it continues its modest push into the tablet market.
The biggest thing to note about the A700 is that it comes pre-installed with Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Android also known as version 4.0.
But at this point, that is becoming less of a differentiating factor as numerous tablets are now finally making their way into the Ice Cream Sandwich territory.
The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and packs in 1 GB of RAM with 32 GB of built-in storage capacity.
It measures in notably bulkier than the new iPad, and of course all Android tablets are having a tough time competing against Apple’s Retina Display technology.
Nevertheless, the A700 boasts an 800:1 contrast ratio, a 1920×1200 resolution, and a 178-degree viewing angle, which is probably impressive enough for most users.
It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. The battery is good for up to 10.5 hours of continuous video playback, according to Acer.
The unit is available for pre-order beginning today, with gray and black color options. The retail price is $450, and orders will begin shipping later this month.
