Via’s ARTiGO A1200 is a slim fanless PC

Via has rolled out the ARTiGO A1200, a small fanless desktop PC measuring just 9.6″ x 4.8″ x 1.2″ and weighing a paltry 2.6 pounds.

The $320 system is powered by a 1 GHz VIA Eden X2 dual core processor, along with a VX900 media processor for 1080p HD video playback.

The ARTiGO A1200 boasts up to 4GB of memory, 4 USB 2.0 ports, an optional USB 3.0 host port, two Ethernet ports, VGA and HDMI ports, as well as mic and headphone jacks.

The system also includes a SATA interface for a 2.5 inch hard drive or solid state disk (SSD).

As Liliputing’s Brad Linder points out, while the VIA Eden X2 processor is a low power chip typically aimed at embedded applications, the ARTiGO A1200
is more than perfectly capable of running Windows 7, multiple Linux flavors and Windows Embedded Standard 2009.

“VIA is positioning the computer as a DIY kit for hobbyists looking to build a small, fanless low power computer,” Linder explained.

“But it could also be [fielded] in business or industrial settings where it could be used to for digital signage, thin client systems, or other specialized services.”
