Doom 3 BFG Edition gets a big bleeping trailer

Yes, it’s coming.

The Doom 3 BFG edition may not have a release date or price point nailed down yet, but it will bring everything that Doom fans have asked for into one nice, complete little package.

While you won’t find a brand new Doom game here, it still has plenty to keep even the most over-played Doom fan go back and check out the classic titles.

The full bundle will include Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, and an exclusive Doom 3 mission with seven previously unseen levels, including a new boss and three hours of brand new content.

So this isn’t just a cheap compilation. All the graphics have been fully enhanced, including 3D graphics support. In addition, the team ad id Software made sure that the controls would map nicely to the Xbox 360 and PS3.

The company apparently really took fan suggestions to heart, scouring message boards to get a handle for what the die-hard community wanted to see enhanced and improved.

Company rep Tim Willits told Theverge.com, “We’ve tried to find those opportunities that can enhance the gameplay. We didn’t have enough ammo in the original. It was too dark. There weren’t checkpoint saves. No flashlight. That one was so big, we put it on the sell sheet.”

So the big question – does this mean Doom 4 is on the way? A very hopeful non-denial-non-confirmation tone from id means it could be possible. Wait and see.
