Steve “The Woz” Wozniak, who once was one of Steve Jobs’s closest confidants, is being described as being a “tutor” for Sony Pictures.
That is, of course, for the studio’s upcoming theatrical adaptation of the life of Steve Jobs. Screenplay writer Aaron Sorkin was quoted by Reuters as saying Wozniak not only provided insight into what Jobs was like as a person, but also into technology and how Apple made its many inventions and discoveries.
Sorking also said he wants a different approach to the project than what you might expect from a typical biographical film. It would be fitting considering that Jobs was far from a typical person.
“I know so little about what I am going to write. I know what I am not going to write. It can’t be a straight ahead biography because it’s very difficult to shake the cradle-to-grave structure of a biography,” Sorkin said.
Hopefully that kind of talk isn’t just a lot of hot air. We don’t expect it to be, after his writing for the movie The Social Network was praised as masterful and captivated the most mainstream audience into following something that on paper sounds like it should only belong as an hour-long CNBC special.
Sony Pictures isn’t the only studio working on a movie about Jobs. As you might expect, it’s a pretty hot subject. But Sony’s is the one that is getting the most attention.
Among the purported stars of the movie will be Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs, and Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak.
There are many facets of Jobs’s life. To see which ones are emphasized in the film will certainly be very interesting.
