Supporters of the controversial WikiLeaks website have allegedly launched a blistering digital offensive against former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
According to ABC News, the electronic campaign targeted SarahPac.com and successfully “disrupted” Sarah and Todd’s personal credit card accounts.
“No wonder others are keeping silent about Julian Assange’s antics,” Palin said in an angry statement to the network.
“[Obviously], this is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts.”
SarahPAC aide Rebecca Mansour expressed similar sentiments.
“[Palin] voiced her opinion knowing full well that she was speaking out against a shady disreputable organization with no regard for laws or human life.
“[Yes], this is [exactly] how they operate. [But] the world should not be intimidated by them…[They claim to be] in favor of free speech yet they attack Sarah for exercising her free speech.”
It should be noted that the digital activists targeting SarahPac have yet to identify themselves or claim responsibility for the DDoS attack.
Nevertheless, a site official told ABC News that the attackers – purportedly linked to Anon_Ops – used the dreaded LOIC (Low Orbit Ion Cannon) to flood SarahPac.
“[You see], the attackers [clearly] wanted us to know that they were affiliated with WikLleaks.org, [and therefore left] an obscure message in our server log file,” he added.
