A big part of Star Wars has always been books, either novels based on the characters, or the comic books that were launched by Marvel, and were continued by Dark Horse until recently.
Now with The Force Unleashed coming in December, there will reportedly be twent- five new Star Wars books hitting the market, including books that give the backstory before The Force Awakens.
The Force Awakens takes place thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and we guess a lot will happen in-between that point and the new Star Wars flick. As Entertainment Weekly and Hollywood Reporter tells us, there will be Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Star Wars: Aftermath, among other titles.
There will also be books for kids, and stand-alone books, like Smuggler’s Run, which will be a Han Solo story.
One thing I’m curious about with these Star Wars books is how much it will give away in The Force Unleashed. There was a Return of the Jedi novelization that hit bookstores before the movie, and a classmate of mine told me the whole plot of the movie before I saw it. (At my request of course, I didn’t care if anything was spoiled for me.) A lot of fans will certainly avoid spoilers like the plague if they get out there, and we’re looking forward to enjoying it fresh, along with everybody else, on December 18.
