Technology giant Google has installed more than seventy charging stations at its main campus in Mountain View, California.
The company says the units will be used by employees who own electric vehicles, and incorporated into its car sharing program that includes Nissan Leafs and Chevy Volts.
Google says the seventy one new charging stations are just the start of a plan to deploy at least 250 more in the coming months, in addition to the one hundred and fifty units that were previously available, and make at least five percent of its parking space dedicated to electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids.
The units are Level 2 models manufactured by Coulomb, and give users ChargePoint features, such as cost and user control, usage notifications, and on-the-go assistance services.
This is just one of a number of green tech initiatives the Internet giant has undertaken in recent months. Mostly it has been investing in clean energy outings like wind power and solar energy.
