Sprint to hold Motorola event in New York next month

It looks like there are new Motorola phones coming from Sprint.

And they’re so important that Sprint will be holding a special media event on June 9 to unveil it. The CEOs of both Sprint and Motorola will be there to show off their “latest collaborations,” according to the event invitation.

No further details were included in the invite, though the wording suggests there will be multiple devices unveiled, leaving open the potential for both smartphones and tablets to be on tap.

In the past, Sprint’s New York events have included the unveiling of its first 4G phone, the HTC Evo, as well as the innovative Kyocera Echo dual-screen phone.

The blog TechnoBuffalo reports the June event will be the launching pad of a phone called the Photon 4G, with top-of-the-line technical specs like a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8 MP camera, as well as a laptop dock that will turn the phone into a computer when it’s connected to the specialized monitor.

Another rumbling is that Motorola could unveil the Sprint version of its Xoom tablet. The device went on sale with Verizon earlier this year but has failed to spark a whole lot of interest. We’re curious to see if it has any changes to the device other than just making it work on Sprint’s network.

TG Daily will not be on site at the event since we’ll be in the thick of the E3 gaming expo at the time, but we’ll still get our hands on all the details so stay unted.
