Sony is reportedly close to clinching an agreement with Hulu for a paid TV service that would stream content to its flagship Playstation 3 (PS3) console.
According to Bloomberg, the potentially lucrative partnership could be announced as early as next week.
“Access to video-game consoles would give Hulu’s planned pay service a bigger audience and more revenue by making its Internet programming more widely available on television sets,” explained Bloomberg’s Andy Fixmer and Cliff Edwards.
“Hulu also is in talks with CBS, Viacom and Time Warner to add their TV shows to the website’s subscription service.”
It should be noted that a subscription-based model for Hulu would put the company in direct competition with Netflix, which already offers online movie access on the PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Roku devices.
