Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer told an annual shareholder’s meeting that sales of Windows 7 have met the company’s expectations.
Ballmer, who was quoted by the Wall Street Journal, reportedly described the reception to Windows 7 as “fantastic.” He added that the latest iteration of Windows had outsold any previous version of the operating system by “two times.”
However, Ballmer conceded that Microsoft could definitely “improve” its market position on US college campuses – where rival Apple maintains a strong presence. ??
“Window 7 gives us a real opportunity to come back again at audiences that have been tougher for us,” said Ballmer.
It should be noted that Ballmer did not divulge any actual sales figures during the meeting.
