IBM puts its business in the Cloud

Big Blue said that it has introduced what it claims are the first set of cloud services and integrated products for enterprise.

The IBM Smart Business cloud suite is designed to simply complicated business processes to help cope with data coming from a billion connected people and a trillion connected devices.

The IBM Smart Business portfolion includes standardized services on the IBM cloud, private cloud services behind an IBM firewall, and Cloudburst workload optimized systems for customer wanting to build their own “cloud” with pre-integrated hardware and software.

IBM CloudBurst V1.1 costs $207,387 without discounts and ships in four days time. CloudBurst, it claims, is a complete cloud computing package that can deliver a virtual machine in support of different types of workloads.

The base hardware configuration includes one 42U rack, one BladeCenter chassis, one 3650M2 Management Server with eight cores, and 24GB memory, one HS22 CloudBurst Management Blade, three managed HS22 blades, DS3400FC attached storage, a Cloudburst service management pack, Tivoli provisioning manager V7.1, Tivoli Monitoring V6.2.1, IBM Systems Director 6.1.1 and VMWare Virtual Center 2.5 U4.

IBM has indicated it will offer discounts and will use its financing arm to create 36 month terms and conditions.
