Toshiba has unveiled a laptop targeted at high-end gamers and multimedia enthusiasts at IDF. The Qosmio X500 – which is powered by Intel’s new Intel Core i7 processor – features a 18.4-inch diagonal widescreen display, DDR3 system memory, dual hard-drive configurations and Nvidia’s GeForce GTS 250M with 1GB of GDDR5 video memory.
“Gaming and high-definition content creation continue to drive high-performance PC demand and Toshiba is extremely committed to serving those markets,” said Toshiba’s Carl Pinto. “This line combines premium design users crave with the highest quality of Toshiba engineering to offer one of the best audio-visual experiences currently available on a laptop, at prices attainable for those who need it.”
Pinto explained that the Core i7 processor delivers four cores of “intelligent processing power,” while Intel’s turbo boost technology automatically allows chip cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it is operating below power, current and temperature specification limits.
He added that the X500 Series boasted a “premium sound system” with integrated Harman Kardon speakers, Dolby Home Theater audio and an integrated HDMI-CEC port.
The Qosmio X500 will launch alongside Windows 7 on October 22, 2009. However, pricing is expected to be announced on October 13.
