HP kills (or at least severely bludgeons) Android tablet plans

Most likely because HP is now filling its time with Palm’s WebOS platform, the company has set aside its plans to pursue a new tablet computer powered by Google’s Android operating system.

Before it acquired Palm earlier this year, HP said it was working on an Android tablet to be made available this fall. Now, however, those plans have been scrapped, according to a report on All Things Digital.

So there will be no HP Android tablet this year, and whether or not one will even come out next year is still in question. However, a WebOS-powered tablet is now on the docket to come out later in 2010.

HP is also in the development stages of creating a Windows 7 tablet.
