One of the common complaints that go along with Android-powered mini PCs is the less-than-stellar integrated Wi-Fi capabilities.
Indeed, we’ve even seen physical mods for adding an external antenna to the MK808 to improve Wi-Fi reception. So if you’re in the market for a new Android-powered mini PC with optimized Wi-Fi right out-of-the-box, you might want to check out the MK812.
This little Android-powered mini PC looks like most of its contemporaries, which is to say it resembles a fat flash drive with an HDMI connector sticking out of the end. As noted above, one of the key features is an external Wi-Fi antenna, which will undoubtedly significantly improve Wi-Fi performance.
Additional specs? Integrated Bluetooth and a built-in web cam. Personally, I’m not sold on the inclusion of integrated web cams for these little mini computers. The problem is that with most HDMI ports on TVs either on the back, the front, or the side the chances of having the camera oriented correctly for use are slim.
Other than the features already mentioned above, the MK812 is equipped with a Rockchip RK3066 with dual cores, 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of integrated storage. Graphics are handled by a Mali 400 GPU and the resolution of the camera is two megapixels. The mini PC is available online for $75.
