$99 MarS dev board powered by Freescale’s i.MX6 dual-core SoC

Embest Technologies recently introduced a slick dev board/mini computer dubbed the MarS Board.

As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, the ‘Board is somewhat similar to the wildly popular Raspberry Pi, although it costs approximately twice as much and offers far more raw horsepower.

To be sure, MarS boasts a 1 GHz Freescale i.MX6 Dual ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Vivante GC2000 graphics, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage – all supplemented by a wide range of expansion ports and headers.

The device is also equipped with two full-sized USB 2.0 ports, two mini USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, an integrated HDMI port and a microSD card slot for extra storage and headers for UART, GPIO, SPDIF and more.

Meaning, users can easily hook up various peripherals, such as a keyboard, mouse, WiFi dongle, camera and even a 4.3 inch or 7 inch LCD (via an optional connector).
