Panasonic has announced a new promotion in which early adopters of 3D TVs can get a couple of the first 3D Blu-ray titles for free – Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur and Coraline.
Anyone who buys a Panasonic Viera VT25 Series 3D TV between May 16 and July 10 is eligible for the mail-in offer. The VT25 series ranges from 50-inch to 65-inch sets, priced at between $2,600 and $4,300.
Panasonic’s plasma 3D sets are less expensive than TVs from other manufacturers, most of which rely on the more pricey LED display technology.
“Working with valued partners like Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Universal Studios Home Entertainment, we are not only bringing Full HD 3D Home Theater Systems to consumer homes now, but we’re also providing VIERA purchasers with critically acclaimed content so that they can begin enjoying the immersive world of Full HD 3D immediately,” said Panasonic VP Henry Hauser.
I don’t know which planet Henry is living on, but I wouldn’t qualify a mail-in coupon that takes 4-6 weeks for fulfillment as a way to get something “immediately.” It’s still a nice deal, though.
Retailers are also trying to sweeten the pot for early adopters, offering free 3D glasses and other movies for those who buy one of the next-gen TVs now.
