Rockchip’s RK3288 processor already powers a number of Android-based tablets and TV boxes.
However, the company recently showcased the 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A17 quad-core processor driving a Chromium OS system – with the silicon apparently powerful enough to open and simultaneously maintain 30 Google Chrome browser tabs.
As Liliputing’s Brad Linder reports, the RK3288 features ARM Mali-T764 graphics with support for 4K video and H.265 video decoding.
”When ARMDevices caught up with Rockchip at the HKTDC show in Hong Kong this week, the company was showing devices powering 4K displays,” he explained.
It should be noted that Rockchip also demoed a slew of new Android tablets running on the RK3288 chip, with cold boot speeds clocking in at an impressive 8 seconds.
