Nvidia Tegra processors power a wide range of mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets and the company’s very own Shield handheld game console.
So it comes as little surprise that Nvidia is reportedly prepping an indigenously designed lineup of Tegra-based tablets. The rumors actually make perfect sense, especially with other industry heavyweights like Microsoft, Google and Amazon branding their tablets with official corporate logos.
According to Fudzilla, one Nvidia-branded tablet will likely feature an Nvidia Tegra 5 “Logan” processor with Kepler graphics. Another cheaper tablet could be powered the Tegra 4 and feature a stylus.
In related tablet news, it seems as if Amazon may be in the market for new tablet processors. As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, every Kindle Fire thus far has shipped with a Texas Instruments (TI) chip, even if TI isn’t actively making consumer processors anymore.
And that is why Amazon may be looking to MediaTek to supply silicon for at least some of its upcoming tablets. More specifically, for MediaTek’s MT8135 chips, at least according to China’s Economic Daily News. The above-mentioned processor boasts two ARM Cortex-A15 processor cores and two ARM Cortex-A7 cores in a power saving, load balancing big.LITTLE configuration.
