Acer has confirmed that its slick Iconia A1 Android Jelly Bean (4.2) tablet will be hitting US shores for a cool $169. The specs are certainly more than respectable, especially considering the above-mentioned price point.
First off, there is the 1024 x 768 pixel IPS display and a 1.2 GHz MediaTek MT8125 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor.
Additional specs include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 5MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, a micro HDMI port and a battery that offers up to 7 hours of runtime. The tablet measures a slim 0.44 inches thick and weighs in at 0.9 pounds.
As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, there seems to be some sort of confusion over final pricing details, with US reps saying $169 and an official press release listing $199.
Nevertheless, a tablet with the above-mentioned specs for a sub-$200 price point sounds like a sweet deal indeed.
In related news, Acer also introduced the Aspire P3, which can best be described as a Windows 8 tablet with Ultrabook-like power under the hood. The company refers to the 11.6-inch device as an “ultrabook convertible,” as it is designed to be paired with a keyboard docking station.
Key specs? Intel Core i3/i5 SoC, (optional) digital pen, 60GB -120GB of storage, front and rear cameras, an IPS display with 170-degree viewing angles, a 6 hour battery, a full-sized USB 3.0 port and an HDMI port.
The Aspire P3 will go on sale this week at an $800 price point and scale up, based on spec options.
