Acer’s Windows 8 Aspire V5-122 is powered by AMD’s Temash SoC

Acer has introduced the Aspire V5-122, a Windows 8 touchscreen notebook with an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and AMD’s Temash APU.

Pricing is expected to kick off at around $450, which as Liliputing points out, makes it one of the most reasonably priced touchscreen notebooks on the market these days.

According to MiniMachines, key specs include an MD A6-1450 “Temash” quad-core SoC with Radeon HD 8280 graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, VGA, HDMI, USB 3.0, gigabit Ethernet and a three-cell battery.

As noted above, the V5-122 is equipped with AMD’s Temash APU, which is one of the successors to the company’s Z-60 dual core chip AMD targeted at tablets and hybrids.

As expected, the A6-1450 offers approximately twice the graphics performance, along with significantly more processing power than its predecessor. And, best of all, the chip doesn’t sacrifice its low-power design or weigh in at a high price point.
