Sony has rolled out an 11.6-inch Windows 8 hybrid tablet at IFA 2012 in Berlin.
Dubbed the Vaio Duo 11, the device features a slide-out keyboard along with a 1080p touchscreen and digitizer stylus pen that supports handwriting recognition.
The tablet is powered by Intel’s family of Core processors (i3, i5, i7), Intel HD Graphics 4000, along with an SSD (128 or 256GB) and 4GB-8GB of RAM. The device also offers NFC support, GPS capabilities as well as HD rear and front-facing cameras.
The Duo 11 measures 17.85mm thin and weighs in at 1.3kg. Other key specs? Full HD Web Cameras (x2, front and rear facing) powered by ‘Exmor for PC’ (2.07 megapixels), WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB 3.0, VGA out, HDMI out, Memory Stick Duo/SD memory card combined slot, stereo speakers with xLOUDl, sensors (NFC, GPS, accelerometer, gyro, digital compass), Windows button and rotation lock button.
In addition to the Vaio Duo 11, the Japanese-based corporation introduced a 20-inch battery-powered all-in-one system that can be laid flat on a table or placed in an upright position. Dubbed the Tap 20, the 20-inch screen offers 10-point multi-touch operation and up to 1,600 x 900 resolution.
Tap 20 weighs 11.4-pounds and Sony is attempting to promote the device as a family style gaming system, along with multi-user apps like Family Paint and Fingertapps Organizer. Similar to the Duo, the multi-touch table top system is powered by Intel Core processors, but is equipped with a 750GB/1TB hard drive (instead of an SSD) and boasts a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera.
Additional specs include Mobile Bravia Engine 2, Intel HD Graphics 4000, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB 3.0, Memory Stick Duo/SD memory card combined slot, 2.1ch speakers with S-Force Front Surround 3D, Web and Assist buttons.
Both the Tap 20 and Vaio Duo 11 will be available at the end of October 2012.
