Archos has debuted a $200 Honeycomb (3.2) tablet for those interested in buying a current-gen Android device for the new year without breaking the bank.
The 7-inch Archos 70b IT features a 1.2 GHz processor, along with an upgraded capacitive touch screen (1024 x 600) and 8GB+ of storage.
As expected, the tablet also offers easy access to Google’s Android Market, which boasts approximately 300,000 apps.
Additional specs include:
– 3D Graphics accelerator.
– Wi-Fi connectivity.
– HDMI output.
– Micro SD connectivity.
– 512 MB of RAM.
The specs are actually fairly decent for an entry-level Android-powered media tablet, and is probably a good choice for someone who doesn’t want to splash out $500+ for an Apple (iOS) iPad or an Asus Transformer Prime. (Note: the Transformer Prime, like its popular predecessor, seems to be selling out before it even hits store shelves).
Of course, you won’t get as much storage space, and performance will likely be somewhat slower than on a tricked-out Android tablet, but $200 isn’t at all bad for a basic Honeycomb experience.
The Archos 70b will be available in January 2012.
