Low Sex Drive in Men: How to Regain your Sexual Appetite

Loss of sexual appetite is less common in men than it is in women. This happens in about 15% of men compared to about 30% of women. However, when guys face a loss of sexual desire, it is even more, bothering for them than it is for women.

Given the numerous human traits, sex appetite varies widely. And even within well-developed and committed relationships, couples often face a mismatch in sexual desire. The assessment of a low sex drive is not entirely based on a frequency of sexual intimacy, but rather on how the individual feels about it both before and after.

What can be done about a loss of sexual desire? Dr. Daniel Watter, a specialist in treating marital issues and sexual dysfunction, said that there is no single remedy for low libido. Yet, the first step toward a solution is to seek out the cause of your problem, so you know whether you are dealing with a biological, emotional, or relationships-based issue.

Relationship 1

Get More Sleep

A recent study from the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine showed that men who were facing obstructive sleep apnea or OSA experienced a low testosterone level. In turn, this might lead to decreased sexual activity and libido. Researchers also found that almost one-third of the men who experienced OSA in the past dealt with reduced levels of testosterone.

However, paying attention to your sleeping habits can work wonders for your overall mood, energy level and as research showed, sleep is linked to your libido.

Choose the right treatment

Because a wide range of medical conditions and medications can affect your libido, you should not avoid seeing a doctor. A serious illness is more likely to reduce your interest in sex and conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension can lower your blood flow, impeding arousal. If you are facing erectile dysfunction, prescribed medication such as Cialis is meant to increase your blood flow so you can get the desired erection hard enough for sex. However, the results may vary from one guy to another, so make sure you see your doctor before purchasing any of these medications.

Get regular exercise

Being physically active can boost your libido in many ways. A 2015 study of men undergoing androgen deprivation therapy, which affects the testosterone levels, found that having an active lifestyle helped man cope with various problems such as low libido, body image concerns, and relationship issues.

Getting regular exercise may reduce your risk for chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, which is associated with low libido. Having a moderate exercise routine can lower the cortisol levels during the night, reducing stress, which can help increase your sexual appetite.

Low sex drive is a common problem that affects both men and women at some point in their life. A first solution in tackling this issue is by identifying whether this might be linked to relationship issues, reduced hormone levers, stress, or tiredness.
