While there’s enough remakes and reboots out there to choke a horse, the Six Million Dollar Man, now billion of course, is one I’m interested in. It’s a beloved show for anyone who grew up in the seventies, and Mark Wahlberg is slated to star.
Wahlberg is a good choice to take over the role of Steve Austin, and Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) is on to direct. Now Collider tells us that Damian Szifron, an Academy Award nominated screenwriter, is going to write it. Szifron wrote and directed a film called Wild Tales, which was nominated last year for Best Foreign Language Film.
Szifron told Collider, “Such a major challenge represents a great opportunity. The themes surround this beloved property allow for the creation of a memorable sci-fi actioner as well as a bold spy thriller. Expectations are high and I’ll do my best to deliver the strongest basis for an amazing cinematic experience.”
The world has caught tup to the technology of the show, and perhaps one day we can rebuild people on the same level of The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. We can now build 3D prosthetics for as little as three hundred bucks, and this could actually make the Six Billion Dollar Man cool for today’s modern age. As for the retro fans who are dying to see Steve Austin again, we hope it can be redone in a cool way that will satisfy the us as well.
