A highly conceptual theme park called Game Nation will allow visitors to experience what it’s like to be in the middle of a video game.
As of now, it remains as mysterious as it is intriguing. There is funding and a whole slate of plans for how to construct the high-concept park, but it needs to take the process one step at a time.
The first step is determining where to build the attraction, which Game Nation says could bring as many as 700,000 new jobs over the course of construction and operation.
So the company put it up to the public to vote on where they’d like to see a video game-inspired theme park. Perhaps not surprisingly, the winning state was family vacation central, Florida.
“We’ve been approached by several great locations. Although we’re still in the early stages, Florida would certainly be a great state to partner with,” said cofounder of the company behind Game Nation, Cole Peacock.
“We’re creating Game Nation for our fans and want to listen to their voices whenever possible. The vote for a location was the perfect opportunity to let our fans be heard. After all, this is their park,” the company said in a statement.
The comments sound vague enough that they are surely still weighing other options. Of course there are other practical realities like trying to get local subsidies and tax breaks.
Regardless, Game Nation could definitely be a place for geeks and nerds to flock to for years to come, so hopefully wherever it ends up, it will be worth the wait.
