This September, Yankee Stadium is getting rocked. The notorious Big Four – Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica – will honor the U.S. with a second performance. If you are one of the elect, a Yankees season ticket owner or a fan club member of Metallica, you will get pre-sale privileges May 4.

It’s time for some musical mathematics: What does Eminem + Foo Fighters + Coldplay + Muse + My Morning Jacket equal? This year’s 20-year-old Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago. The three-day-event, hosted in grant park, will feature over 100 artists.

The newest addition to this years event will feature a dance tent that can hold 15,000 rockers and rockettes where artists like Kid Cudi, Girl Talk, and Pretty Lights will perform. Recap? Lollapalooza August 5-7. Be there or be squared.

Grammy award winning K.K. Downing is putting down his guitar after 40 years with the heavy metal band Judas Priest. The British band will continue their tour with Richie Faulkner taking Downing’s place. While Judas Priest will rock the Epitaph Tour that features songs from every studio album, something will be missing without K.K. Downing’s solos.

Brooklyn’s native art rock band, Elysian Fields, announced the release of their seventh album, Last Night On Earth, this June. The 16-year-old band feature several musical friends on the album including Jeff Buckley, Matt Johnson, The Antibalas horns, Doveman’s Thomas Bartlett and string players from Bon Iver. Considering this is Elysian Field’s first stateside release in 10 years, June 14 is going to be a big day in the music world.

Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer, Buddy Holly, will be honored in time for what would be his 75th birthday June 28. Artists such as Paul McCartney, The Black Keys, Julian Casablancas, Modest Mouse, Cee-Lo Green and She & Him are coming together to create a tribute album, aptly named Rave on Buddy Holly. The artists involved with the collaborative album feature personal interpretive covers making this memorial one to remember.

 The Big Four – a.k.a heavy metal’s Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica, will perform in Yankee Stadium September 14, and tickets for the general public go on sale May 6.

Lollapalooza – announced its rocking lineup featuring over 100 musicians like Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse, and My Morning Jacket. The Chicago festival is celebrating its 20th year by adding a dance tent big enough to hold 15,000 participants.

Judas Priest– announced that 42-years-loyal member K.K. Downing has officially retired from the band. Judas Priest will continue with their scheduled Epitaph tour featuring Richie Faulkner as Downing’s replacement.

Elysian Fields – announced the release of their seventh album, Last Night On Earth, which is the first in 10 years. The album collaborates with artists like Jeff Buckley members of The Antibalas, and string players from Bon Iver.

Buddy Holly – will be honored June 28 by a tribute album called Rave On Buddy Holly. Musicians like Paul McCartney, The Black Keys, Julian Casablancas, Modest Mouse, Cee-Lo Green, She & Him and several more cover a series of Holly’s hits in unique, interpretive ways.
