With the economy crashing and the unemployment rate skyrocketing, it’s safe to say we’re all a little low on cash. Luckily, musicians and even huge companies are giving us a break. This week, How To Destroy Angels released free downloads of their debut EP and The Melvins released a free track for download. Also, concert ticket giant Live Nation announced “No Service Fees June” – which means for the entire month, ticket purchasers will not have to pay the service fee. I’m going to attend a concert for a reasonable price for once? Crazy. Smashing Pumpkins and The Pixies announced tour dates, and a few festivals announced jam-packed line-ups.

How To Destroy Angels Release Free Downloads of Debut EP: Trent Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig have formed a band together, How To Destroy Angels, and they’ve released their debut EP for free download on the group’s official site. Grab the 6-track EP now or wait until July 6th to get it in physical form.

Live Nation Service Fees: Live Nation has announced “No Service Fees June” for the entire month. According to the release, this move will affect more than 700 shows and 50 venues nationwide.

The Melvins Release Track For Download, Start Tour: Punk/metal outfit, The Melvins, have released a free download from their new album, The Bride Screamed Murder, called “Evil New War God.” The group is also going on tour in support of the new album.

The Smashing Pumpkins Announce U.S. Tour Of Intimate Venues:The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a U.S. tour of intimate venues for July. The 14-stop tour will be their first since 2008.

Pixies Announce 2010 U.S. Doolittle Tour Dates: The Pixies’ Doolittle Tour is coming back to the U.S. this September to hit up 11 cities across the country. Also, all shows will be recorded on CD and be available for purchase. Fuck Buttons is opening.

MusicfestNW Announces 2010 Lineup with The Decemeberists, The National and more:MusicFestNW has announced the preliminary line-up for its 2010 festival in Portland, Oregon on September 9th – 12th. The Decemberists and The National are headlining.

Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Phoenix, To Play Outside Lands Festival: The Outside Lands Festival will be August 14th – 15th in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Expect to see such musical acts as Further, Kings of Leon, My Morning Jacket, The Strokes, Phoenix, Al Green and Janelle Monae.
