Psyko Audio Labs has introduced a 5.1 headset that allows hardcore PC gamers to precisely identify the source of muffled gunshots, light footsteps and overwhelmingly loud explosions.
“Psyko 5.1 completely rethinks conventional headphone design and puts PC gamers directly in…a 5.1 room,” Psyko CEO James Hildebrandt told TG Daily in an e-mailed statement.
“You get natural surround sound with no latency, no simulation and no hassles. This technology will completely shift the current landscape of gaming audio and usher in a new era of fully immersive gaming where audio is now a deadly weapon.”
According to Hildebrandt, Psyko headphones deliver “true” 5.1 sound from 5 speakers strategically placed in the headband.
“The headphone bridge houses 5 audio speakers (front left, center, front right, rear left and rear right) with a subwoofer in each ear cup for a total of 7 speakers,” explained Hildebrandt.
“Sounds from each speaker carry throughout the Wave guides to pass over the front and back of both ears, giving users natural, not simulated, surround sound.”
The Psyko 5.1 PC Gaming Headset System is currently available for $300 in the USA and Canada.
