A recently published EEDAR report has predicted that Nintendo will regain control of the video game hardware market. According to EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich, Nintendo sold 600,000 Wii consoles and 400,000 DS handheld units during the month of October.
“Fueling the strong Nintendo Wii sales was the belated but well received price cut in late September. As with any Nintendo product, EEDAR expects Nintendo to hold onto its console supremacy in November and December,” Divnich told TG Daily in an e-mailed statement. “Additionally, EEDAR feels comfortable to make the prediction that the New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii will be one of the top titles this holiday season.”

However, Divnich did note that Xbox 360 sales of CoD: Modern Warfare 2 could “surpass” Super Mario Bros in the short-term.
“[Nevertheless], in the long-term, New Super Mario Bros will easily become the best selling title released in 2009 with expected lifetime sales exceeding 15 million units worldwide,” said Divnich.
He added that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is expected to be the top-selling game for the month of October at over 600,000 units. ??
“If sales trends continue through the holidays, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will only be the third first-party title on the PlayStation 3 to sell over 1 million units domestically. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves marks the beginning of a strong lineup of exclusive titles for Sony with God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, and MAG all expected to be released before the first half of 2010.”
