As the 3D movie industry grows bigger and bigger, we’ve seen optical companies get in on the craze by offering their own brand of glasses you can take to the movie theater. But this one takes the cake.
Most “designer” 3D glasses (if you want to call them that) look like normal sunglasses, perhaps with a flourish here or there. For the most part, they’re designed to look stylish and set you apart from the crowd when you walk into the theater and don’t need to open those flimsy glasses from their plastic wrapper.
These glasses, though, will do a much better job of setting you apart. Unfortunately, they won’t really do a good job of avoiding that whole flimsy thing.
These Transformers 3D glasses are set to be released just in time for the release of the new Transformers movie which, despite strong opposition from director Michael Bay at first, was shot in 3D.
From Hasbro, it’s more of a mask than a legitimate 3D product. It only costs $10, which means the lenses are probably nothing better than what you’d get from those reusable theater shades.
They are officially licensed from RealD, though, which is the company that provides 3D technology to most theaters across the country. So they probably won’t be any worse than the freebies.
If you really want to show your love for the transforming robots, though, this is the only way to go.
The 3D mask will be available May 16, while Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes out on July 1.
