Lamborghini is showcasing a futuristic concept vehicle manufactured out of carbon fiber and sheet-molded composite.
The blazing hot Sesto Elemento – which weighs in at just under 2200 pounds – is capable of revving its 570-horsepower V-10 from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds.
“The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (sixth element) shows [what] the future of the super sports car can look [like] – extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun,” explained Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
“Systematic lightweight engineering is crucial for future super sports cars: for the most dynamic performance, as well as for low emissions.
“We will apply this technological advantage right across our model range – every future Lamborghini will be touched by the spirit of the Sesto Elemento.”
Meanwhile, Manfred Fitzgerald, the personality in charge of the Sesto’s brand & design, told AutomobileMag that the company had “honed” its new form language – which is now chunky, angular, aggressive, purposeful and “unmistakably” Lamborghini.
“[Yes], Sesto Elemente is notably smaller than the Murcielago, but its stance and the proportions are totally in line with the uncompromising tonality of a contemporary mid-engine supercar.
“While black is the logical color for a carbon-fiber styling exercise, various contrasting red accents add an extra dash of sportiness. After all, this is not a fashion item but a proper street racer.
“Proving the point are the massive brake cooling ducts, the XXL air intakes and the ground effect properties of the rear apron, the rear undertray, and the prominent rear aerofoil.”
