Los Angeles (CA) – Digital Extreme Technologies (DXT) is currently showcasing its advanced console gear at the E3 expo. We spoke with DXT reps about several notable products, including the Reality Pro Game System, Sensor Handgrip and Black Widow Keyboard.
Reality Pro
This system comprises:
- A video visor equipped with a camera and two LCD displays
- Mini portable game console player and carrying case
- Several input devices
- Games and applications on mini flash cartridges
“The RealityPro opens up many new ways to interact with virtual enviornments that have never been available in a gaming system before,” said a DXT spokesperson. “Imagine not only playing a game but actually being in the game and it happening all around you. Augmented reality uses your normal vision and inserts computer generated elements over your field of view.”
Sensor Handgrip
DXT describes the Sensor Handgrip as “completely new technology” that will change the ways gamers interact with virtual objects. According to a company rep, the Sensor Handgrip will allow users to “pick up” a virtual gun or sword and “feel” it in their hands.
“The Sensor Handgrip has three main buttons that produce pressure against the fingers when it comes in contact with a virtual object. When nothing is in the hand, the buttons push in easily. On the game screen, your character’s fingers, open and close normally,” said the rep. “When your character picks up a gun, the buttons resist closing beyond a certain point to simulate the object in your real hand. You can even simulate squishy objects. The Sensor Handgrip uses an external tracking device that gives the game full six degree of freedom movement.”
Black Widow Keyboard
This wireless keyboard features directional controls for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Black Widow is also equipped with a touch pad.
