Call of Duty devs scramble to fix crippling game bugs

A set of sweeping game updates has already come to the PS3 and PC versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more are on the way, as the Xbox 360 edition of the game, which was the lead platform during development, seems to go by unscathed.

As was noted by players in the first day following its release, there were numerous errors and glitches popping up on the PS3 that no one playing on the Xbox 360 seemed to be experiencing. With Treyarch’s patch targeting only the PS3, it seems to acknowledge that.

“Hey PS3 gamers, we are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community,” wrote the company’s community manager Josh Olin in an official message board.

According to Olin, some patches have already gone live and are already being pushed to players. These include a lot of the clipping and other graphical glitches, as well as the following problems:

– Crashing when viewing videos

– Wiping of user stats

– Improper display of online numbers

– Online parties becoming split up

However, there are more glitches, some of which are certainly posing bigger problems. Treyarch continues to work to find fixes to these. In addition, Olin says the following updates are in the works:

– Improved matchmaking for online games

– Improves networking conditions

– Weekly/Monthly leaderboards

In addition, Treyarch has just released a new patch to the PC version of the game, helping to combat the lag problems many players had been reporting. The Xbox 360 version, however, appears to have been fine out of the gate and is not in need of any substantive glitch fixes.
