San Francisco (CA) – Bethesda Softworks is reportedly planning to update PS3 owners on the status of Fallout’s long-awaited DLC. Operation: Anchorage was originally expected to debut in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel some 4-6 weeks apart. However, the downloadable content has yet to appear on Sony’s Playstation network.
“[We’ll] have [an] update for folks on that next week,” Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines told G4TV.
The delay of Operation: Anchorage sparked a number of comments from angry PS3 owners, who expressed their frustration with Bethesda’s ominous silence on TG Daily.
“I’m not sure why this information is so hard to pass along,” wrote Darryl. “So it’s a bit late from the estimate, so what. But Bethesda could at least keep their customers in the loop as to what’s going on, and an update to a possible release date. Or if they’re staggering released content. Just any info to keep people happy would benefit Bethesda in any future releases.”
Another user named Adam wondered why Microsoft’s Xbox had “to ruin it for everyone else.”
“They’re like a big rich school ground bully throwing their money around to control the flow of games they did the same with Rock band SONY RULES!! And [seriously] Bethesda pull your finger out and get it done for feck sake,” added Adam.
An anonymous commentator hypothesized that the PS3 DLC design might be seriously flawed.
“Why is it taking Bethesda so long to get the DLC on Playstation Store? I can forgive missing the June deadline, maybe they had problems they hadn’t forseen or something, but it’s a third of the way through July. There must be a lot wrong with the way the DLC was designed.”
It should be noted that Bethesda has released a number of DLC’s for other platforms, including:
- Operation: Anchorage
- The Pitt
- Broken Steel
- Point Lookout
Mothership Zeta is scheduled for distribution in late July for the Xbox and PC. However, PS3 owners will have to wait until the release of the first four DLC’s before Zeta is available for download.
