Back to the Future II took place in 2015, and with that year just around the corner, there have been a number of stories on the net where people are trying to see what actually came to pass from the movie. In fact, a friend of mine recently wondered when we were finally going to get self-tying shoes.
Well wonder no more. As the NY Daily News tells us, Nike will have these shoes on the market in, you guessed it, 2015. Nike made replicas of the shoes in 2011, called Nike Air Mag, and now, as one Nike designer promised us, “Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!”
While we may never have a real hoverboard, you may recall that several years ago Mattel toys made hoverbaord replicas in time for Xmas. Not to mention a musical version of Back to the Future will be debuting in 2015, not just in time for the year in BTTF Part Two, but also in time for the 30th anniversary of the first Back to the Future film.
So in a funny bit of life imitating art, we’ll actually have self-tying power laces in 2015 in time, just like we saw in BTTF 2. It’s always nice to know there will be more Back to the Future in the future, and we’ll be celebrating along with the movie’s many fans world-wide when the anniversary arrives.
