This story is pretty self-explanatory…we’d all have second thoughts about taking on Batman. Who wouldn’t love to run around wearing that suit, and get paid tens of millions of dollars to do it? Then again, Batman has a very rich, and varied history, and there will be enormous pressure not to screw it up.
It wasn’t hard to predict that the fans would revolt once the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman was announced, and as the Hollywood Reporter tells us, Affleck was indeed “reluctant” to don the tights. “I feel I didn’t fit the traditional mold,” he added.
But he says it was direct Zack Snyder that changed his mind. “Once Zack showed me the concept, that it would be different from the great movies that Chris [Nolan] and Christian [Bale] made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited.”
Much like what we saw in The Dark Knight Rises, this Batman will also be fairly worn down from fighting crime. The CEO of Warner Brothers, Kevin Tsujihara, told the press he’s “tired, kind of weary and seasoned,” and Affleck said this is an apt description. “I don’t want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is now about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.”
So again, we’re skeptical and reluctant ourselves, but we will certainly watch developments closely before Batman Vs Superman is ready for its July 17, 2015 release date.
