We geeks all remember when The X-Files was the hottest thing on TV, and it was one of those genre shows that managed to crossover to a lot of people, not just sci-fi fans. Producer Chris Carter, who created The X-Files, will soon be back on TV with The After, and there has also been some speculation lately, or at least wishful thinking, about a possible Files reunion.
So David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson did a reunion panel at Comic-Con in New York, and as The Guardian reports, they also did a Reddit AMA Q&A where they addressed the possibility of getting back together again.
Duchovny said, “I think Chris Carter is working on a script. Chris is shooting a pilot right now, but he claims to be working on a script, and if he does do that and Fox wants to make it…Gillian will do it, I will do it, so start your writing campaign now. Seriously. We’d all love to do it. The ball is in Fox’s hands.”
It’s been years since Duchovny and Anderson have done anything X-Files related, the last time was the 2008 movie, I Want to Believe, which didn’t do well at the box office. We’re not sure how big of a demand there is for the show to come back, especially considering we live in a generation where anything longer than several months ago is considered ancient history, but maybe down the road everyone can try to squeeze it in.
