The long-awaited Assassin’s Creed 3 is set during the bloody days of the American Revolution. So it makes perfect sense that Ubisoft released a new trailer for the video game in honor of Independence Day.
Although the new trailer doesn’t show much in the way of new game play footage, it does adopt more of a cinematic approach, featuring real actors looking defiant in the face of extenuating circumstances.
The trailer depicts colonists from all walks of life, including women and children, who act to defy British soldiers and representatives of the monarchy. Indeed, one chilling scene features a woman and two little girls hiding behind a wall as British soldiers try to break into their home. The final scene shows the hero of the game as he kills multiple enemy soldiers with the message “Rise” before the credits roll.
Personally, I think this will be one of the best games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. I particularly like the fact that players can engage in naval combat by commanding their own ships packed with cannons. Of course, board enemy ships can also be boarded, which will inevitably be followed by heavy hand-to-hand combat.
