If you’re a real Van Halen fan, are you ready to show your love and buy their new album on vinyl?
The first new full length album with David Lee Roth since 1984, titled A Different Kind of Truth, will be available on Feburary 7, and it will indeed be released on vinyl for fans who love the fidelity, warmth, and sound quality that comes from the format.
As we’ve discussed on TG, vinyl is back with a vengeance, especially in the metal/hard rock world, with bands re-releasing their classics on highest quality 180 gram vinyl.
Now Blabbermouth is reporting that you can pre-order the vinyl version of Truth, which will be a double gatefold release on two LPs, through www.livenation.com. The vinyl version of the album will be shipping on February 24, and it costs $54.98 (via Live Nation).
There’s also going to be a deluxe version of Truth with a bonus DVD of Van Halen performing unplugged. Titled The Downtown Sessions, the songs include acoustic versions of Panama, You Really Got Me, Beautiful Girls, and a new tune called You and Your Blues.
According to Billboard, Van Halen’s first new single with Roth, Tattoo, is currently #16 on the Rock Songs chart. As we’ve previously reported, Tattoo is actually an old song from the club days called Down in Flames that’s been reworked. The album also includes old songs Bullethead and She’s the Woman.
As for how NEW the new album is still remains to be seen, because before the new single dropped, Sammy Hagar told Rolling Stone, “I heard this record is old outtakes from the old days. Because from what I heard, they aren’t working with new material. Ed and Dave didn’t actually write new songs.”
