Apparently the new Ghostbusters is shooting right now in Boston, and in case you’ve been living in a cave, this one is all women fighting evil spirits, and it’s going to be the foursome of Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Melissa McCarthy.
So now a few interesting tidbits of news have gotten out there, including the story that Emma Stone apparently was offered the movie, but passed.
As she told Collider and the Wall Street Journal, “The script was really funny, it just didn’t’ feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment – it’s a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water.” (The Journal also tells us that Bill Murray personally pushed for Stone to be one of the female ‘Busters.)
There have also been alleged plot details that have leaked, so we’ll give you a SPOILER ALERT on these, although this is really just a brief synopsis of what’s essentially the first act:
Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are both writers who claim that ghosts are indeed real. When Wiig becomes a teacher at Columbia, the book comes back to haunt her, and she gets laughed out of school. Meanwhile, some ghosts leak into Manhattan, the laughing stops and it’s up to the new ‘Busters to stop them.
There, don’t think we gave away too much there. Look for Ghostbusters 3 in theaters on July 22, 2016.
