I’ve said it before, I’ll say it a million times more, I can’t stand Adam Sandler, and reviews for his latest hunk of sh*t, The Cobbler, are dreadful. Normally I wouldn’t give this guy any attention, but he is in a new comedy that’s piqued my interest, Pixels.
In Pixels, video game characters attack the earth, and it’s up to Sandler to save us. Not sure I’d feel safe with that, but somehow he’ll blast those giant Pac Men and Donkey Kongs into oblivion and spare the earth from being devoured like a little white tablet.
Apparently the aliens learned about video games when we sent a time capsule up there, and then they created big video game characters to attack us. Watching the trailer, they’re definitely going for a Ghostbusters kind of vibe, which is definitely not a bad thing.
Another thing I’m interested in with this movie is Chris Columbus, who’s the director. Yeah, the guy’s done slop like Stepmom, but he also gave us Gremlins and Goonies, which he wrote the scripts for. So even though I’m not a big fan of Sandler, I will give this one the benefit of the doubt. (It’s also got Peter Dinklage, which always make a potentially bad movie much better.)
