We at TG are definitely curious about Interstellar, the upcoming sci-fi epic from director Christopher Nolan. And now we’re realizing we have to put emphasis on the term epic because we just found out the movie’s running time.
According to Uproxx, this will be Nolan’s longest movie yet, which is really saying something because The Dark Knight Rises was 164 minutes. Interstellar will be pushing even longer, a reported two hours and forty-nine minutes long. (We assume this includes credits, and the FX lists on the credits alone could end up being ten minutes right there.)
We’ve seen the full length trailer for the movie, and you can see a lot of Gravity in it, as well as some Inception like touches. and apparently Matthew McConaughey’s trying to save the world from what we can gather. Even with a full-length trailer, it’s still a bit hard to link all the pieces together and figure out what the exact story is.
It does look like it’s going to be pretty cool to see it in Imax and 3D, and Nolan shot the film on 70mm celluloid, one of the last directors around who can still get a movie made on good old fashioned film. So it’s exciting that we’re a little over a month away from seeing how Nolan does in the sci-fi genre, and we’ll probably be there opening day checking it out with everyone else. But considering the running time news, I might be bringing a rubber donut…
